Idiots who call the 999 line
Discussion
1) My cats been playing with string for 2 hours (Listen to audio here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/8433...
2) In another call a man contacted emergency services to say he was stuck on a patch of ice in a street in Bolton and was too scared to go forwards or backwards.
Between Christmas Eve and Boxing Day, GMP said it received 1,377 999 calls, but only a fraction were genuine emergencies.

What the fek is it with people. It really does seem that the majority are fekin' stupid, ignorant, selfish

These pointless calls to 999 come up from time to time and it still amazes me. I have called ambulances and police before and even though it has been for genuine emergencies, I still worry that I may be wasting their time.

We appear to have found the worlds most stupid person. She should be tracked down and used for research purposes

My resonse would have been either "f
k right off you crazy b
h" or "I have called the men in white coats for you please remain where you are"
Im sitting here now taking 999 calls for the ambulance service, and if there is one thing this job has reinforced it is that you can never underestimate the total stupidity of the general public. Funnily enough it is not exclusively the mouth breathers either, although they are the worst offenders.
I agree some calls are beyond silly. People panic though, and don't think rationally. Sometimes I think they call the emergency lines hoping that the people on the end of the phone will judge it as an emergency or not, and tell them. They don't realise that the emergency calls must be taken seriously, regardless.
My most guilty waste of resources was one night MANY years ago, I was mock-fighting with hubby, he had a very sharp multitool, sliced my inner arm wide open. Bleeding profusely, but neither of us fit to drive due to alcohol, debated out options very quickly! Called amulance.
