A few weeks ago a couple of neighbours cars were broken into, so the management company for the apartment complex we all live on decided they'd warn everyone about this by sending a letter to all the residents. Being Americaland our front doors don't have letter slots and the management company don't have access to our mailboxes, so they left the letters attached to our front doors on the 24th.
Since then at least three apartments have been burgled, presumably as burglars now know who is away for the holidays. Guess what the management company did today? Yep, another letter...

Americans, you say? Since then at least three apartments have been burgled, presumably as burglars now know who is away for the holidays. Guess what the management company did today? Yep, another letter...

With apologies to those who deserve them!

We were on the London Eye recently, with a bunch of loud Americans.
I pointed out the Crystal Palace Transmitter, but of course told them it was the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
They didn't have a clue.
Yea, we are all like that; unlike those nice quiet Brits we see abroad. I pointed out the Crystal Palace Transmitter, but of course told them it was the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
They didn't have a clue.
ETA: How terribly relevant that was to the thread topic BTW.

overheard at a yank dinner party over the holidays...I pointed out the Crystal Palace Transmitter, but of course told them it was the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
They didn't have a clue.
"...and he said it was the Eiffel tower. Obviously thought he was in Paris. Poor fella. We just nodded and smiled so as not to upset him further..."
