Just seen their website, I was emptying my inbox and saw they had some further reductions in, my three children love Jack Wills but surprisingly didn't ask for any this christmas, I can now see why. They have almost totally changed their style from what it used to be. It seems to me that all the clothes in their old style are now in their Aubin and Wills catalogue, which is much more expensive. Is it a case of lost their way, or they just know their market has changed?
The cats realised just as A&F/Rhule etc did, they can do the same marketing. Right up until the point they become a slightly more expensive gap and the brand looses it niche appeal, and the clothes become, well, bland. Saying this as someone who should have pulled his finger out years ago and got round to creating a British version of A&F. Along with my idea for a boat air-bag.
Peace

i used to work there, jack wills has gone for the 12-17 market and A+W is for the 18+ market. they split the brands as the older generation were a bit more fed up with the brash branding on the clothes so you will find the A+W clothes a bit more subtle etc..
they are going global aswel with stores in asia coming soon i believe.
the guys who own it are legends.
as regards to quality its a bit hit and miss, the staple items such as the hoodies, etc are good quality, well made as its their bread and butter. the more one off items are sometimes a bit dodgey, i.e. there were some camo shorts that never made it to store as they were so bad, there were some other cargo shorts that the pockets broke within 5 mins. but generally its really well made and their returns policy is great, if its broken, they will replace it. i replaced a pair of 6 month old trackies as the leather number had run in the wash.
price wise its got a bit out of hand however. it has doubled in the last 4 years.

...so what the 'fecks wrong with M&S, Tesco or even better Asda.....Jack Wills....my arse....waste of space for yuppy kids.....thank you....
Too right!
In fact all clothes/fashion/people trying to look nice gets right on my bloody wick! When will people see sense and we can all dress in second hand sacks or boiler suits or something less fancy f'ing dan.
FFS!
My daughter's Ex-Boyfriend was a slave to Jack Wills. Quite why any Englishman would want to dress like a US college kid was beyond me. My daughter shipped him out quite quickly, but she tells me that his current girlfriend (according to him) was recently quite scathing of people who wear 'last year's' Jack Wills.

There's something about those shops that makes my skin crawl. It always amused me at University how it'd always be the people who weren't comfortable with who they were, or seemed to want to portray themselves as having come from wealthy backgrounds by blowing the last £80 of their overdrafts on an over-branded pair of Jack Wills tracksuit bottoms. Ironically, a lot of the people who I met who were genuinely from the sort of wealthy-British-old-money families that the Jack Wills wearers attempted to imitate seemed far less concerned as to where they shopped and what they wore.
Cheap clothes sold at a premium price, usually to people who can't afford it. Have they paired up with Ocean Finance and started offering Jack Wills easy credit yet?

An uncanny description. My teenage half-sister is a slave to Jack Wills. We have to pool together her Christmas and birthday presents so she can afford their cheapest tat!
I don't wear it myself as I have always disapproved of the huge branding they smother their clothes with, although I didn't mind buying my children it. As they get older they seem to agree with me that the branding is too much and they have said that they have noticed a wider range of people wearing it, 'it isn't different anymore'. I was mainly wondering what a slightly younger adult than myself thought about it.

Have you ever tried Aubin & Wills? I might put an order in, but was wondering what the quality was like? From what they say on their site though, the returns procedure seems fair (28day returns), so i might just give it a go...
My friend's got a few bits of it, seems pretty nice. He likes it and is quite difficult to please when it comes to product quality!
I like the JW stuff but yeah they have moved most of the subtler stuff to the A&W line. Most of the JW stuff I have is sweaters, collared shirts and polo shirts with just the little initials, I don't think I'd buy anything with the brand emblazoned across it like the new stuff seems to mainly be.
I think I'm gonna order one of the Gilets in the next few days though. They appear to be going for more on ebay than they are on sale for just now!

I thought all JW stuff was just plain hoodie/t shirt/trackies with a JW logo on?
Nah they do pretty nice knitwear and shirts, but people only notice the tees and trackies with the brand all over it.As for being 'expensive Next' then that could be applied to anything. You could call Next 'expensive Primark', JW is better than next stuff, both quality and fit wise. "Oh those BMWs... just expensive Vauxhalls aren't they..."
i think it is very love hate..
i wouldnt ever pay full price for it, but i have rather alot of shirts etc from when i worked there and got 75% off. i quiet like the old shirts. the trackies etc i have given to my little brother who loves it all.
i would much rather wear ralph lauren or barbour if i have to pay full price. better quality and longer lasting.
