Project on to the moon!
Discussion
I'd say impossible with a light projector.
Big f
k off laser though and you could reach it with the right lenses.
Big version of this, for example.

To what end and see it back here? They fire a laser at the moon and count a miniscule number of photons returned off the reflector. By the time the laser hits the moon it is several kilometers across. Probably nigh on impossible today.
Edit. Not forgetting that the regolith will scatter the light where there is no reflector.

Piece of piss.
You just need a VERY big, and focused, projector.
Perfectly feasible, as far as the physics is concerned.
As for the reality...erm...we're not quite there yet
That and you'd need a good lead on when you start shining the light...You just need a VERY big, and focused, projector.

How long would it take to reach the moon, 30secs or so?
It's late and I can't be bothered to work it out... I know it's 6 mins for light to 'arrive' from the sun...
But as you say, in a purely physics-based way, not particularly difficult!
