That's working from home. Some might say, i'm privileged to be able to have a job I can do from home via the interwebs. But lying in bed, doing work is impossible. So I moved to the sofa with a blanket, but because the tubes are nerfed, the OH has been given the day off too, and now I have to deal with watching morning TV while trying to do work. I'm going to get absolutely nothing done today. I'd rather either have the day off or be at work rather than pretending to do work.

With you on this one.

Technically I always work from home and its a pain in the arse. Too many distractions - especially with a 14 month old and a stay-at-home mum.

So if any of my customers are reading this - please create a fault and I'll be around asap.

ETA - NSFW (but since you lot are at home anyway probably a moot point)

I do actually work when I work from home and it winds me up that it becomes frowned upon by employers due to some employees taking the piss out of it by doing nada - using it as an extra day off.

I'm working from home today because I can't be arsed to mix it with the fools who don't know how to drive to the conditions.

Its a huge pain in the arse what with a three year old and a one year old and nowhere for me to hide. It's going to be admin stuff today - how I wish I could get into the office...

well thanks for that, downloading that sketch seriously affected my broadband bandwidth and seriously slowed down the porn stream.

I work from home sometimes, nice to be trusted to do so, but the OH is always told to bugger off as she doesnt gather the concept that I get paid to work so going shopping with her is not allowed and neither is taking a 2 hour lunch break.

So now I work from home only when I need to (illness or waiting for courier)

I work remotely from home and have learned the tricks... I have to get up, shower before work to wake up and keep the TV turned off.

Of course Pistonheads doesn't help...

I recall a story about a chap who used to get into the correct mindset when working from home by dressing for work, walking out the house around the block and then back in his front door, thereby arriving at "work"

A separate room set up as an office would be a bonus also, and sticking religiously to set hours.

That said, the benefits of no travel must be great.

I'm working from home today. I say working, actually I'm trying to get my work logons sorted as the idiots I'm consulting for at the moment have a nice habit of revoking accounts every now and again. Dealing with idiots and beaurocracy is great. Spent probably 2 hours on the phone trying to get it sorted, and still nada. Got loads I need to get done as well.

My trick is to have an outside office, part of my garage, to work in. No distractions, not the house so no temptation to play on the PS3. Gets the mind focused. Also its got lots of windows so if I tried to have a wk people might see...

I'm lucky that my current main client is global so most of my work is remote so working from home is actually better for me than going into the office as the bandwidth is better.

I mostly get to organise my own schedule so as long as I deliver by the deadlines then no one really cares if I am working 7am - noon or 7am - 7pm as long as I achieve the results.

The biggest problem is when the Mrs also 'works' from home.

I'm home too. I find I'm more productive here, no distractions, no sales people appearing over my shoulder interrupting me, and no bloody Sky News on the TV with the volume up all day.

He doesn't, he's just a square peg in a round hole.
