Guys,

I am seeing a great woman: educated, smart, and beautiful. Her only fault, if one can call it that, is her level of competitiveness: she ABSOLUTELY hates to lose and shows it in brilliant colors! I am, of course, referring to games and fun, such as bowling, billiards, golf, running, sports, video games, etc. When she wins, she's on top of the world, smiles and joy! But when she loses, especially to me, WOW, RUN FAR AWAY! She can't have a good time with friends if she's losing, it seems, and will physically and emotionally show it.

Today we went out with a few other friends and I beat them all at a particular game, we all had a good time, but she was FUMING.

What's the deal here? Have any of you experienced anything as odd as this?

Sounds a bit mental, but if you find a way to deal with it shouldn't be a deal-breaker. Assuming she's hot enough to make up for it.......

No one wants to lose: no one goes to a game and says, "Gee, I wish I had the lowest score of the bunch!" But guess what, people will lose, and you can either take it in stride or go insane. Some people choose the latter haha

While not quite as bad as that, I find while my girlfiend isn't a particularly good looser (ie she'll have abit of a silk), she's a really bad winner (will go on about it for ages). Her whole family are are all a bit that way. Playing board games over Christmas with them was interesting, but the family have banned her parents from playing pictionary as it causes too many arguments biggrin

So, when it comes to winning, she's a man?

How old is she? Might be something she grows out of.

Practice at home, hopefully she'll get bored of throwing tantrums eventually if you beat her often enough.

Does this spirited competetive behaviour mask a need to....
Win every argument?
Never be wrong?
Always get her own way?

If you answer yes, then you will never achieve equality in your relationship and you will always be playing second fiddle to what she wants.

Don't accept it.

Where I grew up this was accepted: you should never beat a girl. Maybe the old country knew something we don't? wink

Tell her your ex gave better BJs and she's going to have to practice more. Enjoy smile

Mental.

Sounds like she hasnt developmentally progressed past the spoilt brat stage of a 9 year old.

This may well manifest itself in further things she will go mental at losing, discussions/ arrangements where her own perceptions and arrangements would have to change to accomodate others.

Generally I would keep it in the fk it until you are bored of it then move on.

I HAVE to let her win, but I do let her know.

Makes no difference if I let her know or not, she's just happy she's won

She needs to learn to differentiate between fun and serious.

Going head to head with someone for decent job is serious, not winning the Wi bowling game isn't...

I quite like competitive women actually.

It only becomes a problem when they try to out-compete me infront of friends / family. The worst one used to just talk louder or talk over me... even though everyone would roll their eyes at her, she still had to be top dog....

...there are plenty of ways to get your own back though, just be creative wink
