"An engineer will be with you from 1pm to 6pm to install your telephone line"... yeah right! It's now 5:45pm and no-one has turned up.
I'll bet my left nut he doesn't turn up at all - who thinks I'll be limping tomorrow?

I don't think he'll turn up today (be very surprised if he does) - will blame being busy due to bad weather no doubt.

Good luck.

That's why he didn't turn up yesterday.

Is it a brand new installation? If not, he may have activated the phone line from the exchange and not need to come to the property. Depending on what needs doing, of course.

it will be an openreach engineer, better check your communication service provider has actually booked the appointmentand told the openreach engineering workforce.

If not may just be delayed due to weather..you should have got a call though?

There is a connection here, (along with Virgin Cable phone/TV connection), and if you ring the number it does ring on the phone you use to call. But the phone connected to the socket doesn't ring and there's no dial tone when you pick up the phone. (And yes I've tried both phone connections laugh )

I got a call on Friday to change the installation date from yesterday to today but no call today. As a further p*sser my BT Broadband equipment hasn't turned up either but if I go on the Royal Mail tracker site and check it says it was delivered this morning at 8am... nope, and no "you weren't in" card either - especially as I have been in all chuffing day!
I've never had an order with BT go through without any hassle, maybe I should cancel and get Virgin to activate their kit?

I will be waiting for Vodafone to deliver a new mobile on Thursday, to repace the one new in November! WOnder if they'll arrive between 8.30 and 12.30? Even better wonder if the courier will get a parking ticket as its being delivered to work in Central London!

the line ringing when you call it just means it's live on the telephone equipment nothing else and the engineer on the day doesn't activate the line on the day as suggested unless you are porting a number from a different provider in which case the engineer still needs access.good luck .which area are you in ?

Well that's what I've just done - called up BT and they told me that they'd cancelled it for today, "didn't you get the SMS message?". No, otherwise I wouldn't have sat here all day. "I can arrange another appointment for you now". No, don't bother, just cancel it. "But we can offer you...". Don't care, cancel it I'm going with Virgin now. "Oh... ok".

You think they'd have at least called you.. Perhaps they can't afford the 10p for the call..

there is just no excuse in this day and age for them not to call you.

Good move in not going with them.

I have the philosophy that if a company can't be bothered to call you back, or keep you updated when required, then they simply don't want the business and will therefore lose it.

Not really concerned with what you do, you can get that polar bear in your profile pic to suck you off if you want.
