The bloke likes a nap/snooze at the weekend, usually before dinner.
He’s in a labour intensive job Mon-Fri and gets enough sleep during the week.

What surprises me is that he is able to get into a deep sleep on his days off if we’re home,
but has enough energy if we are out and about so obviously doesn’t “need” a nap.

So is this a guy thing?
Or could it even be an age thing?

I'm 36 and love a "nana" nap after work for an hour.

Mine too even though his job is extremely easy and laid back!

Personally I can't stand sleeping through the day unless I REALLY need it or am ill

Power naps.

My missus laughs at me because I can fall asleep in a chair anywhere (pub, airport, party) if I have as little as 10 minutes spare. It does me a power of good!

Equally, I can manage perfectly well on four hours' sleep a night.

ETA: I'm 40, and been doing it for years, so you'll have to judge whether or not it's an age thing.

Sometimes I enjoy a nap, not because I need to but just because I can. I think it is a bloke thing as all the friends I know who also enjoy a nap are guys.

I tend to get sleepy about 6....and try to fight it, or I just can't sleep at night. Lately I've given up though....too cold to fight it

As a kid I remember getting annoyed when my dad used to come in from work and fall asleep on the sofa. Now as an adult in my 30's I increasingly find myself coming in from work and involuntarily nodding off on the sofa.

I spent years travellin all over the world for work.
Lots of time on planes and stuck in airports meant I perfected the art of noddin off, sat up, in cafe's, on planes, wherever.

It's a skill that now serves me well whenever the Mrs puts crap on the telly.

I hate having a nap...

simply because it dates back to when I was a kid, I used to fall asleep by the gas fire... I'd wake up and be sick - everytime.

My parents soon found out the gas fire had a defect and I was suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning every saturday afternoon. So if you ever wondered why I am defective, thats probably why!!

Now I just associate falling asleep in the day with nearly being gassed.

I always thought this was a bird thing!? Probably more age-related than anything else, though.

Sometimes on a Saturday night if I'm planning on heading out, I'll have a powerknap, otherwise I'd be fed up and want to go home by midnight.

Its a primeval thing... Man gets a nap when it appears it is safe and available to do so.

Who knows when the next sabretooth tiger is going to wander along and need clubbing !!

If your 80 its normal. Any younger and your wasting your life. Most people can get by on 6-8 hours sleep. Off over to the other thread to post "6-8 hours sleep".

Personally I can't sleep in the day, no matter how tired I am my body just won't go to sleep when its light.
