Nothing worse than stepping in some!!! I ALLWAYS cleared up after my dog, even when he went off the path in a wood, or field. Only thing is whatever clothes I am wearing, if they have a pocket I can guarentee it will have a bag in it.

In my area people clean up after their dog by putting it in a little black plastic bag, tieing up the bag... then throwing the bag back on the ground! So the area is littered with little black bags.
now this i don't get- local woodland near me has now had to put signs up asking people just to leave it where it is so it can decompose naturally. Andrew[MG] said:

t on the local primary school playing field, so that the children come in from playing in the snow smeared in dog s
t. These f
king cock suckers need their noses rubbing in it and then to be force fed with a warm chunk of their pooch's best work. b

dsSpeaking as a dog owner that always 'picks up' I wish more people would report those that don't... It is an offence and gives all dog owners a bad name.
If anything snow makes it easier to pick up, so there's no excuse... selfish, ignorant b

I also seem to have 'nappy bags' in at least one pocket of every coat that I own - pulled some out when looking for a tissue in a quite important business meeting the other day
empty of course!

Do bears s

t in the woods?I read the thread title and assumed you were talking about my soon to be ex housemate, she is too lazy to get off her ass and walk her dog despite being unemployed for two months. Really pisses me off, such a lovely dog too.
Plus the whole excrement problem is exacerbated by idiotic choice of dog walk route. Where I live there are woods and fields - proper ones, within easy reach in almost every direction. In the middle of our development there is a small park, ideal for kids to play in. Where do the lazy morons walk their dogs - and let them s
t? Yup, you guessed it.

True but they have to catch them in the act and it has to be on public property! some scumbag was letting their dog crap on part of my garden and with me being at work all day could never catch them, phoned the relevant council dept. and was told nothing they could do unless the dog was crapping on the public footpath!. I caught the culprit one day and it was a middle aged woman who lives down the road who was letting her dog crap on my garden, I told her to clear it up and if I ever found any crap again it would be splattered on her front door!If anything snow makes it easier to pick up, so there's no excuse... selfish, ignorant b

empty of course!Just come back from a walking the local roads for the first time since the thaw. The amount of dog s
t was unbelievable. All on the pavements as well so no attempt to even pull the dog into the road. There are no signs up about fines, usually I don't like the stick approach but in this case the scum that do this deserve it. I'm gonna get onto the council to do something about it.

t from the woods???
tI will always pick up on the very few occasions my dog fouls on the grass verges and footpaths. If he does it anywhere people may walk or children play I pick up.
However , 99% of his walks are on wide open woodland , much of it owned by the Forestry Commission.
The Forestry Commission operate a 'stick and flick' policy which means if your dog fouls a dedicated footpath then you flick it into the grass with a stick. The mess decomposes naturally , often broken down by insects / rain etc much quicker than if it was bagged and left.
The dog owners who pick up and bag their dog's mess only to dump it on the road / path/ wood when they think no one is looking are far more irresponsible than owners who don't pick up at all.
I really don't understand the logic of people who want to pick up in the open countryside , where there is deer / sheep / cow s
t constantly underfoot.
As for the above comment about loose dogs 'in packs ' being dangerous you clearly have no idea about dog behaviour.
I only have 1 dog but regularly meet other owners who have between 4 and 9 dogs. They are much less of a nuisance than someone who owns 1 dog that they can't control.

I only go by my experiences. When ever my dogs have been attacked it has been with a dog walker who cannot control 10+ dogs at once. I think that when a dog is running in a large group it gets into a pack mentality, It has the back up of the other dogs and is more aggressive, so more likely to attack other dogs.
