I took one of my young 'uns swimming this morning being the brownie point earning Dad that I am. Being a Sunday morning it is packed with Dads doing likewise. Except one....
This chap - probably early 40s - is there with his son who is 6 or 7 I would guess. I notice that the son is playing a Nintendo DS and think to myself "I'm not sure I'd be letting my boy play that in the swimming pool changing rooms". I look at his father and the reason that junior is entertaining himself becomes clear. His devoted father is listening to his ipod. WTF is that all about??

Common these days, just look at any street...young mums texting away whilst ignoring their children.
I get told my son talks a lot....yes, that will be because I actually talk to him.
What are you living in the 1950's or somerthing? Get with the times, talking is for losers!I get told my son talks a lot....yes, that will be because I actually talk to him.
90% of the texts I receive are from my wife, while we are both at home. I used to go to the bottom of the stairs to reply, but I gave up on that when she would just text her reply even though I was waiting at the bottom of the stairs for it.
If I could just figure out how to send my urine as an e-mail attachment from my bladder to the loo then I would be a happy and very sedentary man.

Usually while in restaurants or public places, blissfully ignoring their offspring screaming their heads off or running riot.
Or just after they have picked them up from school....nothing like a 'So how was your day son?' Penny-lope said:

Texting is one thing. Listening away in a world of your own quite another. I get told my son talks a lot....yes, that will be because I actually talk to him.
I can vividly remember fighting with my son who thought that wearing an Ipod at the dinner table was acceptable. In his defence he was about 14, not 40!
