Hi all,

Would anyone be up for providing me with a really clear and useful synopsis of the quantum many worlds theory?

Thanks in hope

Why did you want to read about it? <- genuine question as I have always thought about it but never knew there was an actual theory on it, can't be arsed to read all that, I like my imagination much better.

Its for research for a new short story I'm working on. Quantum is a bh, one moment you think you've got it sussed(ish), and then your brain melts.

How? :/ do you never think that there could be parallel worlds/glaxies/universes?

Was just wondering why he wanted to read someone elses theory instead of making his own up as thats all the theories are.

Don't worry. In another world there's another you that finds it easy.

Of course it does, its the same as trying to imagine the universe and its size, boggles me to think that you could never look from the outside in.

There's a bit of a difference between the sci-fi concept of parallel worlds which is as far as 99.999999% of peoples imaginations go and the well formed quantum physics version that has taken the worlds best scientists a century to develop.

I would strongly recommend In Search of Schrodinger's Cat and Schrodinger's Kittens and the Search for Reality if you really want to get you teeth stuck into the real problem and not the sci-fi version.

I first read them as part of my physics degree in the late 90's. I'm slowly re-reading them now and I'd forgotten just how mind-blowing some of the concepts are, such as photons existing independently of time.

“I think I can safely say that nobody understands Quantum Mechanics” Richard Feynman - Nobel Prize for Quantum Electrodynamics.

You should get his book on QED
