Right, seeing how you guys generally are very helpful (rolleyes) with this sort of thing....

I have a date lined up. Now, she lives in the wilds of North Yorks and I'm trying to apply my limited knowledge of the area (despite it being <20mins from me) and arrange something to do. I gather that she's expecting us to meet around 1pm and has booked out of work for the evening...

I have collated a list of things that I know of in the area, but they all have various downfalls. They are as follows:

1. Stay in Scarborough - There's not a reet lot to do. Apart from chavving out in the arcades.
2. Go somewhere like Robin Hoods Bay - Probably lots of old biddies about, possibility of ice still about, steep hills.
3. Go to Whitby - Never been, don't know what's there. Apart from a dracula and a boat.
4. Dalby Forest - Possibly too cold, lots of walking involved. Don't know if she'd find it boring.
5. Pickering - Not much there apart from the railway. Don't particularly want to come over as a train boffin (which I'm not!).

Other than that I'm somewhat stumped for ideas. I have a reservation at a rather nice restuarant on the Scarborough-Whitby road at 7:00, so would like to stay in the general vicinity (+/- 30-40 miles).

Fire away, chaps.

Stick this in the Yorkshire forum?

Whitby would be best bet imo if it's not raining.

ETA: You could walk up to the abbey, wander along the beach, see the boat and have a fish and chip lunch.

Not much else to do mind biggrin

First date? And you're starting at 1pm? With dinner at 7pm? 10 hour 1st date?

How you gonna fit that in with the hours you work?

Whitby.

Bracing walk around in the freezing cold, maybe some fish n chips when you first get there, walk up the steps to the abbe, try and find draculas grave, walk back down, jump in the car and drive to the restaurant.

The other suggestions won't be much cop at this time of the year - although I do lke a walk around from the North to the South bay at Scarborough - very bracing at this time of the year.

Oh and hope it doesn't rain.

Or snow.

That's what I was thinking. What you going to do for dinner? Go in the same clothes you've been in all day? Unshowered?

Not a first date...don't think I stipulated that did I? She wants to spend 'the day' together. So this seems reasonable. No?

As for work, I'm working until Thursday, then off till tuesday. Holidays and all that.

Then try not to stress about it mate, she clearly wants to enjoy your company, the place you're in is not that important. Fish and chips by the sea is actually a lot more romantic than it sounds.

Have fun thumbup

Book a travellodge and spend a few hours doing her in different ways.

Then get to the pub and have dinner and few pints and go back and do it all again.

That's the problem with PistonHeads these days, full of flash bds.

Get back to the Rolls/Bentley forum with ya.

Note to OP, far better to finger her by the storm drain, when she drops her chips, you know she's done.

Lion Inn at Blakey does very good food, and you can also stay there. It's very remote though, but situated close to a lot of tourist attractions.

Whitby is ok, better in Summer. Scarborough....ok, but can be a bit chavvy. Pickering....it's ok, very good tea rooms called Mrs Rumages. Why don't you bring her to York? Far more to do and see!

The trouble is no where in Yorkshire really sounds appealing, however nice it is. Skinningrove could have 365 days of sunshine a year and the best restaurant in the world and I still wouldn't want to go there.

As others have said, I don't think where and what matters so much as doing something and spending some time together.

Oh and back doors, oxo tower, pictures etc

Porn Cinema. Women love em and guaranteed to have you balls deep within an hour.

Failing that go for a coffee and talk about how you love kids, long walks and wish for the day when Ikea wasnt so busy so you could spend more time there.

Guaranteed.
