I was in the supermarket today and saw an epic piece of pikeyness from a woman who certainly didn’t look like she needed to be pikey nor did she look in any way pikey.
Anyway, the supermarket is doing whole cucumbers for 98p or half cucumbers for 49p. I saw the woman rummage through the whole cucumbers until she found the biggest she could and then proceeded to snap it in two. Certainly not in half. She then put the much smaller portion with the half cucumbers and left with her large portion!
Are you with me in thinking what a pikey or tempted to follow suit or do you do this already yourself?

I got a dose of Karmic retribution today, was busy enjoying a sarnie for lunch in a cafe in town with the GF, (first mistake, town on a Saturday) pointed out three big fat dollops of pikeyness smoking outside Argos.

Haha says me, off to buy some Elizabeth Duke

And within minutes, whilst I'm still chuckling away to myself at my not so sharp wit, they had sat at the table next to us in the cafe...

Arse. lunch spoiled.

Urban Dictionary said:

From the English "turnpike", the place where itinerent travellers and thieves would camp near a settlement.

Pikey is not a racial group, the term is used to describe anyone who lives in a caravan or shares the same values and "culture" of "the travelling community", and whose main sources of income are as follows:

Stealing cars, flogging roses in pubs for "childrens' charities", nicking lead off roofs, burgling garden sheds, blagging entry to old peoples house to rob them, doing dodgy tarmac jobs ("we've got some black stuff left over from a job up the road"), sometimes with mint imperials used as a substitute for white chippings, or, reportedly, using snow to lay slabs on when the sand ran out, stealing your bks if they weren't in a bag and anything else that's not nailed down and anything that is nailed down but will fit in the back of an untaxed Transit when nobody's looking.

Characterised by lurchers on a string, a unintelligible language that "isn't English, it isn't Irish, it's just Pikey" (source: Film: Snatch), a penchant for harecoursing, ketamine, lighter fuel, fighting in pubs and shopping at Lidl.

Best avoided.

Saw someone in my local Morrisons a while back arguing with the manager as to why they would not accept a 25p off coupon for some product.

Fair enough, however the coupon was 3 months out of date, and she was arguing for the whole 10 minutes I was there shopping and paying for my goods.

From what I overheard, the majority of her argument was that they should honour it forever, and that she was a "valued customer" in her own opinion... hehe

QUIET not QUITE. "Pikey" as in a person named Pikey, who was apparently charging for a feel but now, it is hoped, will let you have a feel for free?
Any clearer? Oh, and it's no-one, not know one. wink I'm not sure it's Deeen who's the freak in this situation.

Not really, thank you for your input, it was largely pointless, but hey. Oh and I am the freak? Really?

TBH I really wouldn't give 2 sts what other people do. Realistically it's not going to affect my life THAT much.
