My other half lived with a girl a few years ago who has left her with abit of a problem.
we have had two letters (one for my o/h the other for the girl who we aint seen or heard from in 2 years) demanding £366 for unpaid council tax. She has offered to pay half the bill now but refuses to pay the whole ammount as the council by their own admission have not looked for the other girl. Any idea's where she stands?
It can't be fair than a dosser who drifts around not paying bills can do this while someone settled gets letters for bills because they can't be arsed to find the dosser.

It can't be fair than a dosser who drifts around not paying bills can do this while someone settled gets letters for bills because they can't be arsed to find the dosser.
I don't know the legalities of it all, i ended up just paying out the money in the end to stop having to go to court and have a county court judgement against my name etc.
I got stung for just short of £3000, my BEST mate for some 6-7 years, who i was living with just disappeared, i came home from work 1 day and he was gone, never heard from him again(this was 4 years ago). Turned out he hadn't paid rent, council tax or any other bills for 5-6 months. He'd also stolen all the money i'd been paying him to cover my half of the bills.
As everything was in joint names, and the companies/council couldn't locate him they came after me, threatened me with legal action and taking me to court etc. I didnt know what to do, and was too niave to get legal representation, so i just paid it all off.
Just shows you never know anyone properly, no-one can ever really be trusted.
Definately get down the Citizens Advice Bureau, see what they can do to help, wish i'd fought it a bit more than i did. Good luck.
