Hi Folks, looking to see if any of you have experience with the CSA.

I have been dealing with them recently and worked out all the main stuff but there is a clause which if you are paying debt from when you were a couple then that should be taken into account and the monthly payment for maintenance is reduced.

i pay £108 for maintenance per month.

however when me and the ex split there was a £34000 shortfall in the mortgage which i pay £100 towards whereas the ex has just ignored.

when i mentioned this to the CSA they became very sheepish just saying its a very complicated bit of maths and would only make approx £2 difference per month.
then all of a sudden the ex decided to leave the CSA out of it....

Do any of you know how this deduction is worked out??

thanks

And who's fking fault is that?? Who's calculations are they using??

Is this the new strategy from government agencies, they just make stuff so complicated that they can justify not carrying out their duties and blame it on 'the system'??

GAH!

Sorry, can't help at all with your problem.

get part time work when they assess you.

they will only ask for the minimum payment of £5 per week then.

then when you go back to propper work..... just neglect to inform them. then everybody wins!

thats assuming you still have your child for any amount of time, and continue to buy whats needed when its needed, but just want to do so without the CSA-Tax.

i doubt every penny you give them gets to the mum... and i doubt every penny [-]you[-] they give mom gets to the kid(s)

TBH it doesn't matter what they do, they'll probably balls it up anyway. A mate of mine was told the CSA hadn't been taking enough money from him and took all of what he 'owed' in one month, leaving him the grand total of £5 to himself once all his other bills had been paid.
