How to say thanks
Discussion
We were in town yesterday, doing a bit of shopping. Usual places, and we used the same car park we always do.
Mrs has a look around the house this morning and can't find her purse. No sign of it at all.
Bugger.
So she sets off into town to start at the car park, then the shops we visited to see if it had been handed in. If she couldn't find it, a trip round to the nick to report it lost, then all the banks to cancel the cards.
On her way into town, she got a call from my Dad's PA. Someone had found the purse in the car park and handed it in to the attendant. The attendant had looked through the purse and found one of my Dad's business cards on it. So he'd phoned the office. Dad's PA then went down to the Car Park and picked up the purse, and my Mrs diverted to the office to pick up said purse.
So we now have 3 people to thank. Question is, what sort of thing is appropriate?
A thank you card, a small gift? Any ideas?

A personally hand-written thank-you card is entirely appropriate. If you were to offer anything of value (especially cash it could easily be seen as insulting.
How so?When I was 16 doing my apprenticeship I found a wallet outside college with 100-odd quid in it, along with various credit/debit cards etc.
There was a proper moral dilemma, I considered trousering the cash and handing in the wallet and remaining contents. I was on 30 quid a week at the time and had a moped to run!
Did the right thing and handed in at the local cop shop where they recorded the contents and took my name/address as the finder. Never heard a word.
Insulted? I was insulted he didn't chuck me a fecking tenner at least. Tight c***.

.A long time ago when I earnt very little I lost £20 in a shop, retraced my steps and a shopgirl had picked it up and when I asked if anything had been found, she gave the money back to me. I bought her a bunch of flowers to say thanks, she could easily have pocketed the money & no-one would have been any the wiser.

I've never deleted anything I post, even occasional misguided drunken rants.
Whatever makes you happy though fella. look I "preserved" it for you again....are you excited?
I lost my wallet in Morrisons a year or so back, pretty sure it was pickpocketed, but nevertheless reported it as lost/stolen to plod. Only had about 30 quid in cash in it but the hassle of cancelling cards/replacing season ticket etc etc meant I decided that any finder would get the cash within should they accept.
