Another kitten thread - where to buy
Discussion
Being that this forum is full of cat lovers
, hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
My other half wants a ginger kitten for her birthday. As much as I would like to help rehome a currently homeless cat, I refuse to go through the cats protection or other such place, as the last time I adopted a cat, they spoke to me like I was 5 years old and the idea of a "home inspection" before I get the thing is frankly tedious.
My house has a catflap and is in an estate away from main roads, if they don't believe me then their loss.
So I am trying to find various ones online, google searches show up loads of promising results for kittens in the local area, then when you look into it, all the websites are either poorly maintained or the adverts are 5 years or so out of date. I don't know if "pet shops" sell kittens - the ones I have tried are more small animals.
So is there a GOOD, well maintained online reliable site for these kinds of things?

If you don't want pedigree, I'd suggest Gumtree, local paper classifieds, newasgent windows and word of mouth.
You will also find cat and dog shelters vary greatly with their approach. The one we went to were fairly laid back about things, certainly no home visit etc but there was a fair bit of tedious form filling.
It was suprising how difficult it was to just find moggy kittens from a litter locally (I naively thought the local papers would be full of them), maybe a result of more and more cats being neutered at a fairly young age.

RSPCA? Local Animal rescue centre?
As I explained in my original post, I won't do this because both times I have been, they have spoken to me like I am 5 years old, and have been very patronising, and demanded a "house inspection". I understand they need to ensure that I won't be taking the cats home and eating them, but I refuse to jump through hoops when I am effectively doing them a favour.
