Is this just me, or do they never deliver as promised? I've tried both my address (a numbered house in a housing estate in a village) and my parents' address (in the country), and things just never arrive when they're supposed to.

Just since September these are the experiences I've had:

  • My roof rack was supposed to be delivered to my parents' address back in September. It didn't arrive on the specified day, but two days afterwards.
  • My girlfriend's new kayak was supposed to be delivered to my house on a Thursday morning in November, so she worked from home that day. By 2pm she was on the phone to them asking where it was and they said "it's not going to happen today, maybe tomorrow". Maybe?! She got onto the company she ordered it from and asked for her money back (we were going away kayaking the next day), and it miraculously turned up two hours later!
  • I ordered some car cleaning stuff last year and asked for delivery to my parents' address. It took a week after the indicated day of delivery to come! They re-scheduled delivery every day for that whole week, and every day I'd log in to the tracking website and there were excuses like "driver got lost" or "driver's van broke down".
And so, I'm sat at home now waiting for my girlfriend's moving in present to me to arrive (a food processor). I moved in at the end of August and this is our fourth attempt at ordering one. The first and second ones went missing (the courier lost them). The third order progressed with the kitchen supplies company but then apparently it was out of stock. This is the fourth order and it's supposed to arrive between 7am and 12. Nothing yet...

Sorry, not enough swearing for a rant, but does anyone else have this problem?! I've never had an issue getting my money back on delivery, it's almost like they never expected to deliver on the specified day in the first place.

JB!

you think thats bad, try having parcelfarce tell you that to release the parcel that you have already paid door-to-door shipping on, you have to pay the VAT AND a fking handling fee AND collect it if you want it that day!

I am waiting for a "Gift" from Santander to apologise for shambolic service. When I contacted them to say it hadn't arrived, apparently the courier company tried to deliver it three times but nobody was in. One would have thought that leaving a note was prudent, since people do tend to work during the week!

Personally never had a problem with the Royal Mail or Parcel Force, at least the depots are very local and open early and Sat mornings if you aren't in when they deliver.

Home Delivery Network only offer a premium rate number to rearramge delivery and you can only choose day between 7am and 8pm, or their internet service which didnt register our request!

Late service? Yup had that. But when they do eventually deliver your item do they then think to themselves "I'll turn the truck round on your lawn", Probably not!!
We currently have large tyre ditches all over the place.
Not the first time either.

Last time a courier got stuck here (went in the hedge Somehow?) the tow truck that came to help also got stuck so we ended up getting a large truck from the local quarry to come pull them BOTH out..... Words failed me that day haha

Something similar happened to neighbours of my parents. Its a single track lane that ends in a dead end and no turning bay. The neighbours oppositemy parents have an in and out drive, which people used to use as a turning point, so they blocked it with large rocks.

On the day in question an artic was delivering to a house at the top of the road, and rather thaan being told he'd have to reverse out he drove down to the bottom to look for somewhere to turn. Arrived at my parents neighbours to see the circular drive so thought he'd go round. So he moed the roacks and off he went. Got half way only to realise there were tree branches in the way. So decided to nip across the lawn to avoid them. He didn't get very far before he sunk in the lawn. So he got out of his cab, retreived the rocks he had just moved, and put those under his wheels. Promptly buried them about a foot deep in mud. So called a recovery truck. The Recovery truck decide to ry and tow him out, and in the process reversed onto the lawn. Wasn't long before he was stuck in the lawn as well. By the time the neighbours came home it was total chaos with an artic and a recovery truck on their lawn, and heavy lfting gear trying to extract both of them!
