I can hardly even get myself to start this discussion - I've been putting it off for two days now.

I am having a very improductive spell. ETA - I can't even be bothered to get UNproductive right....

I have two reports to write - "easy" stuff. I basically know what I need to say, where I am getting the info from. Should take a day each. Started Monday. Written two paragraphs so far. Originally gave myself a deadline of today. Client has suggested deadline of Friday.

So why, oh why, oh why, am I spending time on PH, reading, putting my feet up, going out to the garage to look at the car, surfing for a new bike, sorting out the dinner, looking out at the Spring weather, thinking about going for a walk, going to get another coffee.

Give me a kick start - would you!

Dammit! I've even found a Fleabay auction to watch

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

Just to see how much the car will go for.

Watching paint dry would be more productive..... sleep

Nope - there's still 23 minutes on that Fleabay. And there's still more interesting things to do on PH!

I'm the same, I finish my current contract on Friday and I can't be bothered to do the little bit of work that I have left. I got into work this morning at 8.15 and haven't done anything yet.

It feels a bit better, knowing I'm not the only one.

Trouble is the sky's blue out there and I am dreaming of Spring. It really shouldn't be difficult to knuckle down. Thinking way back, I used to ease off work when there were only a few bits left, so that you never actually got to the point of having "nothing" apparently to do. But I need the deadlines!!!! Ho hum!

I haven't done much for about 14 years - since a big corporate re-org.

Feel bad about it looking back - so much wasted time.

I have to admit, this past week I have no motivation at all and it's starting to get on my nerves.

Thing is, I'm not feeling too good either so maybe it's just that? I dunno

I think it's February you know, I always feel like this in February. Although it's the shortest month it always seems to drag on and on.

I'm the same, I don't work flat out unless I am right against the deadline. All my coursework was done the night before the hand-in date. In fact I use to think coursework was slightly unfair and much preferred exams as that suited my 'need a deadline' approach.

I have no solution to get out of this as still do it at work now, luckily I am frantic at work and thus have so many deadlines I am flat out (apart from the odd PH surf).

Though I do have a technical solution to your PH problem... I have a ban button which I can hit for you. It has been asked to be used before for some people due to this very problem biggrin

Won't solve the blue sky and fleabay auctions though!!

A quick trawl through Wikipedia on procrastination lead me to find Students syndrom - this sumss up my OU coursework perfectly hehe

I am completly unable to start my coursework till about a week before the deadline; i'm then up at all hours completing it - it's not healthy.

I'm exactly the same at the moment, I was working like a demon for the past 3 weeks and then I hit a metaphorical brick wall and now I'm procrastinating on everything.

I'm thinking of going in to London next week to see if a chance of scenery will make me feel any better.

I'm starting to think it's a bit of a transitional thing for me as I've been very busy with the girlfriend for the past 6 months, darting to and from Leics all the time, she had a 4 year old boy to keep us busy too. Now it's all over, the motivation has gone!

Odd

Odd
If you want something done - ask a busy person

I'm beginning to feel that procrastination goes hand in hand with having too much spare time (that and too many little tasks).

OP - When I was suffering from procrastination at university the solution I found was to give myself time off. Rather than sitting at much computer failing to get anything done, I'd go any play with the car/go out somewhere/do something around the house.

Then when the deadline gets closer, or you decide to do some of the work for whatever reason, you are not fatigued from spending all day at the computer.
