fkING COCKSOCKET KNOB GOBBLING BELLENDS

Right,
Master Socket + 1 Extension,

Everything working OK, 1 day line has noise and no ADSL. Ring up BT openreach "engineer" fixes it by rerouting the line.

Result - extension no longer works.

I assume the engineer didn't put back what he fiddled with or something like that.

Complaint stuck in BTs "complaints department" and I am 3 months into a 24 month contract with the cocksuckers so I can't go elsewhere.

Anyone here able to shed some light on what it could be?

I think this breaches naming and shaming rules.

I feel your pain! I haven't been able to to think about BT without my blood pressure rising since the first day I had to speak with their Indian Call Centre. :shudder: I will never go back.

You have my sympathies!!

Jamoor, tone it down or I suspect someone else will.

Is the master socket in the same place, can you take a photo of it so we can see which type of master it is?

IIRC 'your telco' isn't responsible for anything beyond the master socket.

However wiring in an extension is pretty easy, read this.

Can I just point out that I don't really give a British Communication company about the naming and shaming rules on PH.

I'm sure it's irritating to be without Telecommunications though.

Boy that would really wind me up.

Have you tried wiggling the socket?

soounds like one of 2 things, either your extension socket was wired in to the wiring somewhere between the point of entry of the cable into your house and the main socket (which it shouldn't be) or when he's terminated the new cable onto the main socket he hasn't reconnected your extension wiring which is normal as you're responsible for your own extension wiring unless BT installed it for you originally and it's under warranty.

Wires are clearly the wrong way round. Swap them over and try.

There are two blue and whites which is a bit confusing.

It's wired correctly but perhaps with the wrong wires.

I'd have a quick look inside the master socket and make sure the wires are properly connected.

I'm not really sure that anything outside the house could stop your extension from working.

ETA: sorry my advice appears to be rather late

Just thinking, now go to the extension, take the front off and take a photo of that if you could.

Could be that the extension end is wired in a non standard way

Which wire should he snip?
The blue one or the red one?
The tension is getting unbearable.

A Picture taken of the master socket from straight on would help. ( with the front off)
