Kennedy says Wham-O adopted the name "Frisbee" because that's what college students in New England were calling the Pluto Platters. The name came from the Frisbie Pie Co., a local bakery whose empty tins were tossed like the soon-to-be Frisbee.
From Pluto Platters to Frisbie Pies. Well I'll be...
RIP Fred.

I have always admired the type of people that can take a simple idea and get it to market.

My dog sends his regards to Jim as he loves his frizbee, despite being quite adept at catching, we are both still working on the "throwing it back bit"

BTW Jim you need a new hobby, scanning the obits every morning is a little worryingbiggrin

Similar simple inventions that were meant as something else was Silly Putty ans Slinky.
A for the Obits....I check the local ones each day to see if anyone I know has passed on (me included). smile It happens that "famous" or "notable" figures are captured on the same web page. I don't seek them out....not that bored as of yet! biggrin
