I was walking alomg a short pedestrian way and the old lady in front of me stops to deposit the contents of her pockets onto the pavement.

Old bus tickets and sweetie wrappers were the bulk of it.

I stopped beside her and said ' you appear to have dropped some litter'

She just said ' so what?'.

Me : 'there is a litter bin just behind you......Yes, there, about 6 feet away'

Her : 'I'm not bothered'.

Me : 'You lazy old COW. Why don't you pick it up and put it in the bin ??

Her : 'Someone will sweep it up, and I'm ill'.

Me : I don't care if you are ill, that doesn't stop you using the litter bin. Thats why this town looks like a $hithole.'

Her : 'Well I don't live here anyway.

Me : Lazy COW.

She shuffled off. I picked up the litter and went off uming.

Rant over..... ( and breathe)banghead

If that was a youngster would they have been given a hard time ??.............I guess so.

She really got me angry.

Ah, but she didnt fight in three world wars so the likes of you could berate her about something so trivial.

I know what you mean, round here they are downright rude, aggresive and obnoxious. Many a time i have been barged out of a queue just so an old codger can get in, and god forbid if you are front of them on pension day, they move like lightning and are not averse to using feet and elbows. I have lost count of the times one of the coffin dodgers round here has had a go, but when there is a big euromillions draw like last night, usain bolt would have no chance against them

Should've rammed the litter down her throat. I'm sure there isn't a court in the land that would've convicted you.

I nipped into a local toy store today....and saw a respectable looking mother wipe her daughters face with a wet wipe, and then just throw it on the stores floor, and then repeat the whole process again with her son irked

Then whilst driving home saw some scummy st throw his take away container on the pavement, when there was a bin right next to him.

A builder once emptied a rather worrying amount of rubbish outside my mate's house. He then went into a local newsagent, presumably to replenish the numerous empty crisp packets, coke cans, and fast food wrappers that were now strewn over Sutton. Mate got pissed off as a lot of it ended up in his garden, so he quickly picked up a few bits and chucked them in the back of the builder's pick up, and then emptied his and his neighbour's bins into the back as well. Builder guy came back out and drove off - would have liked to have seen his face when he saw all that crap in the back.

Smiler.

It will have no doubt ended up down some country lane.

It really hacks me off when these cretins drop litter.

Such a small thing to put rubbish in a bin which has a big impact when dumped. If people can't deal with the little things, how the hell are they gonna deal with the big things.

Ony my drive to work, two large orange gas bottles regularly appear dumped in the hedge. Tossers rolleyes

I have always thought that we should have the most severe penalties for things like that, we should have the death penalty for dropping litter. We would never end up executing a single citizen though, there would simply be no litter dropped, ever! Well, perhaps just the one, but after that...

These days I just dial 01636 6556000.

It is my most frequently dialled number. The times I have had to move stuff slightly closer to the road!

My pet hate.

I live on Box Hill, an area of outstanding natural beauty. In the zig zag road lower car park you can guarantee that every week there'll be a washing machine / mattress / a load of builder's rubble dumped. Why not take that stuff to the municipal tip? There are two within a five-mile radius.

Likewise rubbish left by sporting events. Twice a year The Hill hosts the 'Human Race' run-cycle biathlon, and is invariably left strewn with water bottles / energy bar wrappers afterwards.

Presumably intelligent people are taking part in this - why can't they take their litter home?

People that throw cigarette ends on the ground,or out of their car window when driving are just as bad.

What would stop us from posting up pictures of people who drop litter, spit in public etc?

It is against forum rules?

I had one last night on my way home, travelling down a Motorway-regs DC with a car transporter lorry in the left hand lane just up ahead. Driver proceeds to lob a bag of McDonalds rubbish out his driver's window, promptly showering my car in greasy papers. Lovely.

At the weekend someone threw their cigarette out of the window driving down the motorway infront of me, it was dark so all I could see was this little sparking ball of fire coming straight toward my windscreen! Not amused.

There's some nasty who's just started in the last couple of weeks having his dog crap by the tree next to our gate (it's a big dog to judge from the turds) and not clearing it up. If I spot him/her, a photo is going up on the tree to shame him/her.
