Hairdresser help please
Discussion
I have bleached my dyed red hair today. Used a 3-5 times lighter kit. normal hair ie roots now blonde. rest still pale red. How many times can i bleach what strength should i use and how often. I want to go blonde. I am a brunette. Have been RED red for six years.
Will i be able to do it. or will i have to go back to red again?

As a student, my hair was pink, red, blue, white - you name it.
From that experience, I can say you need at least 40% vol hydrogen peroxide to strip out an existing colour. Also that you can bleach the same hair twice, before it starts to crumble away.
Hair straightening / perming on top of lightening are a distinct no-no.
As suggested, best go to a professional hairdresser.

Seriously, you should really go to the hairdresser. They normally use a solution to 'strip' the hair of the red colour before bleaching to get the blonde.
You really run the risk of breaking all your hair if you use too much bleach.
If you don't want to go to salon, I'd probably stick a brown dye on it all now to even up the blonde/red mix and leave it well alone for a few months, using regular intense conditioners to get it back into decent condition.
For what it's worth if you do go ahead and stick more bleach on, try a strand test first and see what result you get. And get yourself a good silver shampoo to keep the blonde tone (silver shampoo will help remove yellow and red tones)

Not good news Im afraid Jessica. My hair is normally bright red and even my hairdresser cannot bleach it back to white so I can change colour. I had to let it grow out or dye it black until it had grown out. The last time I tried dying the red out at home I ended up with pale pink ends. I now have a selection of great wigs.

Jessica, You need to go to a professional hairdresser, as red is the most difficult colour to get out and you will never get a good result with bleach. Please find someone who specialises in colouring!
I'm a hairdresser of over 25 years experience and I would never be seen in an MX5, far too slow!
