My dogs barks when we go out in evening. what can we do to get them stop barking when we are out. bear in the mind, we are deaf couples, so we cannot hear them barking. My neighbour arent too happy.

we tried audio anti-bark collar that emit high pitch sound, putting them in different room away from windows. nothing seem be working. we dont want to resort to electric shock collar.

What else we can do? to stop them barking while we are out.

Got it.

Give the dog to said neighbour, he goes out dog barks you won't hear it anyway and neither will he as he's out and when he's in dogs not barking, you're happy and dog doesn't get electric treatment. thumbup

The dog is bored. Find some way of keeping him entertained like treats stuck inside toys or big chewbones or things hidden around the house for him to find or even better get him a friend.

Presumably it's bored, so one of you may well have to limit evenings out or leave them with friends or family. No different to having a kid in some respects.

Remember watching some dog training show that addressed this but cant remember 100% what the fix was.

It had to do with leaving and coming back repetedly in short (then progresivly longer) periods of time so the dog doesnt get stressed/barky.

Take them for a good long walk / run , off lead if possible. Make sure they are quite hungry before you take them .

Feed them when you get back from their long walk / run and they should settle for a few hours.

the 'he's bored' concept may be right for some dogs but not all. we've got 5 dogs. 1 seems to have been born to bark, the wind blows he barks, a lorry goes past the driveway he'll want to make it known he's around, a dog barks about 200 yards away, he hears it and that sets him off. The rest wait patiently for either our return or to be let back into the house. Perhaps it is bordeom that contributes to his barking, but in this case i think his nature is to bark at things that he sees as a possible threat ( horses, sheep, lorries, other dogs, walkers ) - because when we're out with them on a walk he's quiet. I think he may be in for a bit of gentle elec collar treatment as its aggrovating to us as much as anyone else.

Sounds like separation anxiety. Lots of info out there to help reduce the impact or solve the problem.

Best of luck!

He has a point - that was some atrocious grammar biggrin

(B17NNS - have a wee think about the medium you're communicating on here and the bearing (or lack of) being deaf might have on it...)

OP - is it just the one dog? How old is it?

Along the lines of your audio bark collar- my dad got one that squirts a tiny spray of scented water when his barks (for exactly the same reason as you).
It works brilliantly.
