At work we use a word called "ideation" - which means coming up with ideas. I HATE it. Sounds ridiculous, I refuse to use it.

It's the adjective, yes, but the noun is inventiveness.

Someone is inventive.
They display inventiveness.

I do this too: I recently used the words 'Importantness' and 'Suitableness' but decided to change them before the report was issued.

Good God. Please tell me where you work so I can never, ever go there.

Ever.

(My co-workers come from 25 different nations, with varying levels of English ability, and that sounds like the sort of non-word they come up with when they're getting confused and struggling with working in a foreign language.)
