There's a well-known hot-ish curry on the menu in most Indian restaurants.

The question is - is it a MadrASS or a MadrARSE?

Serious question.

(Mods - this is really a language/dialect thing, not a food & drink thing.....)

Serious answer: Madrass - the name derives from the Islamic school, or madrasa, after which the British decided to name the place AFAIK

I'd say Mad-rass, like the city it comes from. But I'm from oop north, so I'd eat it with chips, out of newspaper, while wearing a flatcap.

I tend to try all words I'm not familiar with in a Welsh accent.

It works for me.

Like this lad:

"Mahd" and "ras", pronounced "Mahd ras"

If you say madarse the guy might put elements of his arse in your food.
