First wedding anniversary gift
Discussion
Assuming that one is not entirely neanderthal in these matters, what is an appropriate first wedding anniversary present for a husband to give to his wife? And should the list include an eternity ring?
First w/a is traditionally paper, but if I'm going to go that route it would have to be something a little "different". And yes, I *could* make an origami paper eternity ring, I'm sure, but.......

Newspaper from the day she was born - Its paper, its relevant to her and offers the illusion of some thought having gone into it. Just give her a 50 quid note and let her buy what she wants

Pearl necklace
Of both kinds! (Pearls are the 'stone' for the first anniversary!)Funny the OP posted this actually, our 1st anniversary is in March and as we've agreed not to buy gifts I was looking for something small to get her in addition to the ridiculously expensive hotel we are going to.
So far I've gone for some silly Origami books, the pearl necklace is a bit pointless as she has several already (and she will be wearing one of my own that weekend anyway!)
Thought about framing my wedding day speech as it was a bit soppy in parts and women love that sort of s

That's a nice idea, I was really sad when my husband's speach was stolen as although I was obviously there for it, in all the excitment, I couldn't remember the content and thought I had forever to read it properly........... It was in his jacket pocket it wasn't the speach the thieves were after, I mean it was good; but it wasn't that good

Sad something priceless to us worth nothing to anyone else
