My Dad reckons that they sell cigars at Costco (the one at Lakeside). Are these "proper" cigars or the sort of thing you can get from anywhere? Also, if they are "proper" ones, are they kept in a humidor?

Thanks

I went into the 'smoking cage' at Leeds Costco recently with the very intention of seeing if they sold decent stogies...ie Cubans.
And no...all they had were Castellas, Hamlet and the like.

If you're going to buy decent cigars that you can guarantee have been kept in tip-top condition your best bet is a local tobacconist (mine is James Barber in Otley www.smoke.co.uk)

or...

for the best bang for your buck use sites like topcubans, 1001cigars, puroexpress, etc.

Check out ukcigarforums for more info...bandit

I'd be surprised if they were 'proper' cigars....

Run of the mill Hamlets and Wintermans half coronas at best I reckon...

Nope.

Proper cubans by the box.

I remain sceptical.

What sort of cigar are they? Length/ring etc?

I definitely recall seeing boxes of Romeo Y Julieta and Cohibas - fat ones.

Does that help?!

If Costco have started to sell Cubans, I might have to buy a bigger humidor.

Can't remember - I only ever smoke five a year so I just buy singles in tubes.

That said, I do recall wishing I smoked more when I saw how cheap they were!!

Last time I was in Makro it was run of the mill stuff. I presume because there is no market for newsagents to be stocking £150 boxes of fine cigars!

Given the brands of Fizz and Whisky they stock, I'd be surprised if they didn't have a good range of cigars.

Well yeah, but since Makro membership is limited to trade users, whereas Costco membership is open to pretty much anyone, it's no surprise that they differ in the sort of items they expect to be able to shift. There isn't much of a market for newsagents to sell 50" plasmas or laptops either, yet they're the first thing you'll see going into our local Costco...

I think you need some weird Tobacco traders card to buy cigarettes/tobacco from Costco ,I have never really paid that much attention to it but there is some sort of sign age up on the cage door of our local one
