Canada did it, and their Maple leaf flag looks great. NZ has a continuing debate about changing our flag. There are even websites devoted to NZ flag designs should we decide to change it.

Personally, I like having the Union Jack on our flag, we do belong to the British Commonwealth, and I hope that doesn't change.

Do you guys like seeing the U/J on other countries flags during sporting events/military operations etc?..

Over 65% of Kiwis said no last time they polled it, but the media like to give the idea a huge push every year or so. I haven't quite figured out their motive behind their propaganda campaign yet, usually there's money involved somewhere.

Will be interesting to see if the UK has an opinion on the issue though.

I guess it depends how much you value tradition, I tend to think I would want rid of it and a flag which was a representation of my country alone.

lol

NZ and Australia should get together and come up with a common flag design. Yes, I'm suggesting NZ become an Australian state.

I would like to see Britain copy Rhodesia (as it was at the time) and make a Unilateral Declaration of Independence from The Commonwealth.
It is certainly not the British Empire anymore, and not even the British Commonwealth.
I doubt that it is in fact about the Common Wealth of all members - just the majority which do not have a Union Flag as part of their flag.

It will certainly be a bit odd if the only foreign place left with the union flag on it's flag is Hawaii.

"We lost St George in the Union Jack,
It's England's flag and we want it back."
