eBay selling - how much choice do you get over font/layout?

I only ask as every ad I look at seems to BE IN CAPITALS or resembles a total utter waffle devoid of paragraphs or punctuation.

I don't claim to be the most literate person out there but if I was trying to get someone to part with several thousand quid on something I was selling, I'm sure I'd put a little bit of effort into making my advert readable.

I don't understand some people.

With some basic HTML skills you can format the pages nicely but you have to be bothered to do it. There are also some template sites out there that give you a stupid border around your item and various junk. To be honest I agree entirely - if you want it to get a good price, it hardly takes any effort to make the ad stand out and make yourself look vaguely credible / respectable.

Openoffice, which is free, has a HTML generator built into it's word processor. Used it a few times to create good looking ebay ads.

A friend of mine made a reasonable living doing nothing other than buying poorly advertised stuff and selling it with decent adverts so it's worth doing properly.
