Righto, sitting at home convalescing and get a voicemail from a 'Detective' who says the following in a thick American accent (NY by the sounds of it):

"This is a message for xxx xxxx (my real name), I'm Detective someone and am on an investigation. I understand you've been briefed about this and I'm sending you some merchandise I want you to look through - call me if there is any problem on 07890 xxxxxxx"

Sounds a bit odd, and I'm assuming I'm either being set up to call a £100 a minute line, or become a coke mule for a Columbian cartel. My only concern is how he got my name - it isnt on my voicemail announcement.

Scam or am I going to be on series 7 of The Wire?

Goes to a voicemail saying call me at work - 01922 number which I've tracked to a company which looks like it may have been someone I dealt with a few weeks ago. Amateur practical joke I think.
