Just read in todays paper that as of April 6th the sick note issued from GPs is to be replaced with a fit note!

I'm surprised there hasn't been much discussion about this. Will it actually make any difference?... apart from making the old forms redundant and provide work for the printing presses?

I suppose it's to stop people from abusing the system, but I assume they can still self-certificate for the first week anyway, so don't really see the point.

I wonder if it will affect those current ill millions from getting incapacity benefits?

I heard something about this 2 years ago or so - it seemed to vanish into the background.

It is an interesting concept - although how successful it will be remains to be seen. Sadly, those who really don't want to work will go to extreme measures to get out of it.

Oh look another new government initiative that will replace a system we currently have, with a new one that will introduce some minor savings but cost a lot more to implement and maintain.

Another waste of time.
