Should I tell his Mum?
Discussion
I purchased an Ipod nano through Ebay and when it showed up it is not a 5th generation, as listed, but a 4th generation - which I already own.
Unsurprisingly I would like my money back, and Ebay, in their usual wonderful way, have refused to get involved as it is a "technical issue". Errr, no, it's a misdescribing issue.
Anyway, a bit of internet snooping has revealed this chap's parent's address and phone number, and his facebook account etc so I know who is, and where he is. He is probably 18/19 judging by his photo.
I have mailed him this morning (for the third time) giving him the chance to make amends. Question is, if (when) he fails to respond should I give his Mum a call to get resolution ? I'd have been mortified if someone had done that to me at that age, but then I wouldn't have tried to rip somebody off in the first place.
EF clarity

Did you pay with paypal? Their resolution system sides with the buyer 99% of the time, even when it blatantly shouldn't.
If not, tell him you will tell his mum and give him one last chance, I see no problem with it.
No. For once when it would have been useful to have done so. We agreed a price reduction to pay direct. If not, tell him you will tell his mum and give him one last chance, I see no problem with it.

In all seriousness, whereabouts does he live, there WILL be a PHer in his area who could pretend to be you and do a quick knock on/question him? I would if I were local.
Or call his Mum, very funny. Either way, why should you be out of pocket?

Phone him then if he answers speak to him directly, if his parents answer just say "Oh I'm just phoning about the eBay auction because I'd like a refund as it's not as described".
If he answers and tells you to sod off, just say "Ok can you verify this address for me please (Then read the address you have)", and see what he says
