Who else hates Facebook?
Discussion
I'm not sure why, but I just have this irrational loathing of Facebook (and other so called 'social networking' sites).
I was suckered into signing up and to be fair used it a bit and had a few chats with people I otherwise wouldn't have. Let's face it though, most of the people who send friend requests are people you'd long forgotten (maybe for good reason) and if it weren't for Facebook would happily stay off your Christmas card list forever. So why 'make friends' and let them forever see your 'status' and who all you other friends are and all those photos of you which have been tagged by other so called friends?
Surely real friends are those you see regularly, phone up for a chat or meet down the pub for a beer. Is this a competition to see how many 'imaginary' or 'pseudo' friends you can amass?
Don't get me wrong, nothing in particular has occurred on FB to annoy me as such. Neither am I a technophobe (far from it). Some people just seem to conduct their entire social lives on there! (I suppose similar could be said for some people and PH!
)
Needless to say, I have now coancelled my membership and where it asks for 'reasons for leaving' I left a message similar to the above.
Whinge over. Just needed to get it off my chest!

I'm definately a little bit too addicted to facebook, though my age may have something to do with it. It's extremely useful when it comes to organising events, for example, not to mention keeping up with people who aren't good enough acquaintances to be in my phone's contact list.. I believe my current 'friend' count is somewhere around 680, purely due to the size of my VI Form.
I hate it because it locks up my lappie every single time I go to Facebook. I don't know what it is trying to do in there but it can SOD OFF out of my PC!
Actually, I just hate the whole Facebook thing, all the random people sending hearts and angels and stupid messages of love when they have never met me - you look at their profiles and they have sent them same thing to all 500 people in their list. Desperate.

God I hate it, It just seems to me to be for nosey boggers.
The Mrs loves it though but I've told her to calm down on it over the last few months because it does my head in when shes on it all the time. I will admit to perving/looking up people though via her/a mates account.
But in a nut-shell, Yes I hate it.

Got rid of my account for just that reason. Started using it to look up some old friends. But then got sick of all the game notifications and stupid messages and gifts and bActually, I just hate the whole Facebook thing, all the random people sending hearts and angels and stupid messages of love when they have never met me - you look at their profiles and they have sent them same thing to all 500 people in their list. ks. Of course you can 'hide' certain things, but they just start with new s
t all the time. So I deactivated my account. Don't miss it.Eric Mc said:
If someone "hates" something so much, why do they persist in using it?
I am neutral about Facebook since I don't have a Facebook account.
I'm neutral to it too. I deleted my account a long time ago and I don't miss it. if I need to get hold of my friends then they are only a phone call away.I am neutral about Facebook since I don't have a Facebook account.
If you hide all the game notifications and such and only accept people you know (and like) then it's good for informally keeping in touch with and finding old friends.
Also, as stated above, there's a whole host of fit women who your friends know to perv over.
Horses for courses though, whinge on ...

So, after 80 months on PH, you are posting about your hatred of talking to people who aren't your real friends on the internet.
On the internet.
The ironing(sic) of people posting to a bunch of complete strangers on an internet forum, to say that they hate internet sites which let them communicate with their friends, would appear to be lost on some people...On the internet.
Still, I'm sure that PH has its fair share of sociopaths who would rather talk to strangers...
