Radiowaves and stuff

Sorry if this is the incorrect area to put this topic in - mods please move if needed.

Now i just turned on the radio to find it very fuzzy so adjusted it to perfect frequency, but what ive also done is doubled it as a pickup for radio signals for aeroplanes.

Now i've done this before and picked up helicopters, police cars and ambulances.

So explain someone how i've managed to pick the perfect frequency and im picking up other waves from radios around the area?

Your radio bandwidth is out of tune and is picking up frequencies higher than 108MHz FM? The planes/airport stuff is not much higher than this.

Or you are very close to the transmitters and are picking up harmonics?

PS. The days of picking up the Police are long gone - they are all on digital "Tetra" now

Yeah only about 1/2 a mile away, explains it all

Btw i was trying to get a better radio 1 signal (about 98ish), lots of you would prefer the fuzzy signal :P
