10 Greatest Empires of the world

Not sure if this is wholly accurate, as they seemed to have missed some, but was the Ottoman empire really greater than the British or Roman empires?

Territory wise it was ours but if we speak about the most influential one in history, literature, art, politics etc then it has to be the Roman empire.

Think the Greeks would say they were more influential than a bunch of engineers.

"The empire was at the centre of interactions between the Eastern and Western worlds for seven centuries."

One of the reasons the Ottoman gets top slot.

But where is the American Empire?biggrin

At the peak of its power, it was often said that “the sun never sets on the British Empire” because its span across the globe ensured that the sun was always shining on at least one of its numerous territories.

How many empires can say that!

~100 years. Half the globe. 2nd place.

What the hell did I just read.
Also, as pointed out above the writer is retarded. Since when did people being happy have anything to do with how good an empire was?
