help finding data on Aids in Rwanda- for my dissertation

Hi, i just want to know if anyone knows where i can get data on how many people have been infected with aids in Rwanda? am looking for yearly figures since 1970 til present, it is for my dissertation. as i can only find info from 1985-2000, and then some more data from 2000-2007 but the numbers between the two sets of data are far from close to eachother.

i have looked on esds and Gmit and google already and cannot seem to find any other figures.

1970's AIDS figures? Everyone knows AIDS was invented in a secret government lab in 1984 so good luck with that.

AIDS was defined in 1982 and virus identified in 1984 IIRC.
You might need a Hot Tub Time Machine for earlier figures.

Given the civil war and general instability, compounded by the rate at which AIDS was recognised, let alone it's long term measurement - being (surprisingly) late... I'd be surprised if you can any figures to correlate at all.

Have you tried the WHO database? Otherwise, try one of the AIDS charities (in return for a copy of your findings) or approach the university at Kigali?

Edited to say - my understanding is that the figures can be so unreliable, in part because of the lack of monitoring, in part because of awareness / availability of HIV testing / availability of medical facilities - but also because even where records were kept and available, the cause of death might not have been noted as AIDS - but rather respiritory failure/etc - and AIDS tests never done on the patient.

You might get "order of magnitude" increases by year, but I'd be very careful on anything claimant to be stats - there just aren't the baseline numbers or accuracy to trust them - insufficient consistency in measurement?
