Just got notification back from the schools I have applied for my kids to goto in september...

As luck would have it.. both my kids have been accepted.

But as always.. there's an issue.
they have been accepted to schools 3 miles apart!

NO PROBLEM! I hear you shout... well yes.. there is. They're 4 years old, and I'm hardley gonna get em a bus pass and kick em out am I?

So now I'm going to have to spend the rest of the day on the phone complaining to whoever will listen until this impossible situation is resolved.

2 kids the same age and they sent them to different schools?

Get on to the Daily Mail, chap.

Separating four-year old twins - they'll lap that story up.

On breakfast news the other day it was mentioned if things become really bad it may be worth investing in a solicitor suitable for the job, they are likely to get things sorted a lot more quickly than trying to do it yourself.
Good luck, can't believe they want to separate siblings of the same age!

This will just probably boil down to an 'automated' decission.
The first twin might just have been the last number of a class of, say, 29, so the second twin, now that the first school is full, will be put into the next school - all done by computer and not an once of sence/human intervention in sight!

I would fully expect that an appeal or a couple of phone calls would sort it out.

Good luck with it though!

This is the kind of rubbish we have to put up with.

Get a petition going.

Contact your local MP.

Contact your local rag.

Make a fuss.

I'm pretty sure that the official line given on some schools admissions policy isn't what they actually put into practice.

Our childminder has had her youngests admission to the school that her eldest attends denied. The first year class at the school can apparently take 30, any more would impede the quality of education.

Her daughter was apparently second on the list. At the appeals hearing she heard one of the other parents wondering why they were bothering with the appeals process, as they'd heard that their child had got in.

And in the playground dropping off her eldest last week, she heard that a few others had got in. So from being "second on the list", the class size has somehow jumped up to 34. So she's been lied to by the schools admission board.

To the OP - good luck with the appeals process, I hope yours works better than our childminders.

Maybe the OP lives in between the schools and the catchment system has determined that the childrens' bedrooms are in different catchments? scratchchin

And what's wrong with the bus? Our public transport system is great dontcherknow? It'll be a valuable life learning experience for them. rolleyes

For a 4 year old?

Anyway, it's the law now that kids can only go to school by SUV.
