Morning all. Is anyone here a member/associate/involved with the IET?

I graduated last year with a HND/DipHe level qualification from a IET accredited course/program of study. I am currently working as a 'Junior' in a technical/design role, I want to become a member of the IET as I believe it can help me - showing my continued desire to learn, and I am interested in the support they seem to be offering in terms of development and career options, guidance etc.

I've just written to my Boss asking for his support in my application, hopefully he will be fine with it. I beleive it would actually be a bonus for the company too, I cant really see any reason why an employer wouldnt want to support me joining!

Reading through the literature, I think I hold all the relevant qualifcations/experience to uphold my application, especially if I can get a favourable statement from my employer ( I hope to, I've only been here 7 months but I think I've made a good impression).

Is there anything else I can/should do, personally, to support my application?

Finally - what do people think of proffesional bodies like these? Unfortunately I doubt I'll ever acheive the highest level of relvant academic qualifications (MEng or Msc) as I just don't have the right mindset - I'd rather be working! but I am keen to keep improving my lot - after only 7 months in my first 'Graduate' level job I already have itchy feet interms of wanting to move up in the world and I think this should be another useful string my bow, as it were?
