How's this for starters:-

Around fifteen years ago, I took the wife and kids to Blackpool to the Pleasure Beach. On the way home, driving past, I noticed a poster on the front of run down Lytham St Annes pier:

SHIRLEY BASSEY LIVE ON STAGE TONIGHT....7:30

As I was a big fan I "persuaded" them it would be a good idea to see the "show", so we hung around Lytham for a couple of hours, wasting time looking in shop windows etc,.., bought our tickets from the box office...(£1.50) each, which I thought was a bit cheap,..... and took our place at front of the small theatre, which held about fifty people.

I must admit I did wonder how she would fit her fifty piece orchestra on the tiny stage.....scratchchin

By 7.30, the place was filling up nicely...a few old dears and men with dirty macs, eating ice cream ....

The tension was mounting, the first few chords of "Goldfinger" were struck up on the loudspeakers, the curtain slowly opened to reveal..... Shirley...A glove puppet.......hehe

Needless to say, Mrs WR didn't speak to me for a week......biggrin

Probably the Shirley Bassey puppet show I did about 15 years ago. I only charged £1.50 a ticket, apparently some muppets thought it was the real deal. Could've made a lot more money that week.

In primary school, we had just got brand new markings on the playground for football, tennis etc. Anyway, we and my mate thought it would be a good idea to get a tennis racket and start chipping away at them.

Also, in primary school, I farted in the school hall on the polished wooden floor with 200+ people in the room. Sounded great though.

relaxing in Spain, lying ontop of a small wall dividing the villa from the beach.
marlboro in one hand, san miguel in the other.
went to take a drink forgetting that gravity doesn't take holidays and just tipped the bottle over my head.

The daftest thing I've ever done is live together with a woman.
Even dafter, that at the start I thought it was a good idea.
Even dafter than that - I'll probably fall for it again.

Asked at local autofactor what antifreeze was needed for my celica, the bod said any, me trusting him put water/antifreeze in the radiator. Couple of days later head gasket blown, as with some core plugs. Then trusted a mate who said take it to his old man to fix it.
His old man took the head off and pretty much looked at it saying it's ok and put it back on, a week later and another head gasket gone, i took it to someone else.
Oh and put a big bore exhaust on it and ruined the car by making it far too loud. Ahh the things i did when i was young!

Everton had just signed a Belgian football player who at the time didn't speak a word of English. I'd been thinking about how difficult it was going to be for him to adapt & then when I was walking into a match saw another foreign player who'd just been signed so decided to keep my language really basic & said "Louis, not fit?". Not only was it blatantly obvious he wasn't fit due to him walking into the ground 10 minutes before kick off, but he'd been playing in England for the best part of a decade so spoke fluent bloody English anyway

Anything that involves me putting my foot in it.

Ie, when I was about 7 my parents were trying to buy some adjoining land to their house from the previous owner of the house who was using the land as a dumping ground. My Dad was talking to some bloke in the kitchen about the land, I wander in and say "My Mum and Dad say that Mr ****** is a gypsy leaving all his rubbish on that land."
The bloke turned around and said "that would be my Dad...But the land is a mess."
I don't think I helped the negotiating process as it took another 8 years to finally buy the land. paperbag

I was on my bike one morning going to work, it was really windy, and I was knackered.

I came up behind a big articulated lorry, one of those with the big canvas sides and strapping.

I thought it would be a good idea to hang onto one of these straps and catch a ride. All was going well until we approached the railway bridge which narrowed, at this point I thought best to let go, unfortunately my glove got caught in the strapping, fortunately I managed (after a serious wobble near his rear wheels) to get my hand free.

Even more fortunately, I managed to catch up with the lorry at some traffic lights and retrieve my glove biggrin

I don't do that anymore.

I moved in with my Ex gf at uni last year, biggest mistake ever. By term two I was wanting to escape but I couldn't until the end of the year due to the contracts. Needless to say that relationship ended not long after I moved out.

when I was a kid, the light bulb went in my bedroom... the bulb was removed and when we went replace it, had none at home, so mum said she would get some bulbs later that day.

Some time later, I was trying to remember if the light was actually turned on or night, and I figured the easiest way to find out would be to put my finger in the light bulb socket.....

the power was on....
