Just thought I would get your opinions on my life at the moment. Dont worry its no sob story. I just feel like I have hit a brick wall lately. Heres how it is, i have a good job which I enjoy and is secure, I have a nice flat in a good city (only moved in 4 months ago so still getting to grips with new area) and got a mortgage. I have family close by. I havent really met many people yet in my new area but have good old friends about 45 mins away and one good mate often comes up and stays and we go out. I have done some traveling such as 4 months in Qatar, spent 4 weeks driving around west coast of USA and the usual euro destinations.

When it comes to women I havnt been all that successful. Enjoyed their delights but never really had a serious relationship. I feel I am a young 26 and still quite immature at times but i feel I am now ready to find the right girl and get into a proper relationship.

What is doing my head in the most at the moment is seeing what other people are doing with their lives on facebook. For example a few of my mates are in US doing football coaching and having an amazing time. Other examples are seeing other friends in loving relationships and getting married, even having kids. I am planning on going to Thailand next Jan with a good mate so look forward to that.

I just feel I am wasting my life at the moment. I usually go out on the razz about once a week so most other times I am either at work or in the flat watching telly or playing on the xbox. I guess to do feel slightly lonely at times. I think i really do need to get a bird now and enjoy life. I think that what I am missing the most...someone else I can enjoy life with.

For the record I am greatful for what I have got; good family, few good mates, good job but I need more.

I'm not sure why you are worrying.

I only settled my career down aged 27, first serious relationship at 28. Married at 30, kids at 32. My career is now taking off and I'm paying a mortgage (ok, 2), but it's only recent history!

I think its the time of year TBH.

I go through the same miserable depressing stage every year around this time.

You'll feel better in a few weeks.

Do you like sports, maybe join a club. E.g. if you like football join a local five a side type place. (That is just an example as there are many other activitys to do) That may occupy a couple of evenings a week. That's all you need to do, the rest of it sounds good to me.

I didn't meet my now hubby til I was 25, I spent most weekends going out clubbing until then, aerobics a couple times a week, working and holidays with friends. My life went down a different but just as good a path once I met OH (had never really had a serious relationship myself til then), I reckon you'll prob find something will change in the near future without you realising or expecting it, it's just a natural progression, you haven't missed out on anything yet just because a few friends have 'settled' down.

You are not entitled to a mid life crisis for another 10 years or so yet. When you have earned the right to have one it should involve a sports car , a blisteringly quick motorcycle a young mistress & coke and hookers as and when needed.

All sounds not so great. You need to "get a burd"? Your attitude here really highlights your immaturity.

You also don't need a "burd" to enjoy life.

It sounds to me like you need to appreciate what you have first of all.

You'll not be here for much longer then, so what are you moaning about?

Good idea. The Land of Smiles they call it, and rightly so. Perhaps it'll put a smile on your face too. smile

I'm sort of toying with the idea of going backpacking/disappear to Thailand for a month or so later this year myself.
If only to clear my head and let my hair down a bit...

Clearly not. You enjoy a bit of life first, then get a bird.............After all, it all goes downhill from that point... ;-)

When it's deeply offensive to the multitude of forces members on PH, no.

can't see what the problem is other than you being envious of what your mates have and are doing. i for one would kill for a job i enjoy.

stop comparing yourself to other people and from focusing on wealth/possessions etc. if you are doing something you genuinely enjoy you will succeed at it and be rewarded appropriately. the things you want to have out of life aren't supposed to come easily, otherwise you wouldn't appreciate them once they are yours.
