OK last weekend I had a fall out with the OH over her Dad.

Here's the scenario.

I was in her house while she was in the shop, her Dad brought her Mothers car over for the ex-husband to use (thats a weird one but don't let it distract from the topic). As he came in the house he said, I'm just dropping the car off and going to walk over home (he lives about 1/2 mile away at the most) so I said ok. The day wasn't the warmest, but if he fancies a walk then fair enough, I go out for walks in 2 foot of snow.

He sits down and we talk a little until the OH comes back from shop, then she sits down and they talk for about half an hour. He stands up and says "right I'm off now, See you later" "see you later" we reply.

Now this was at about 1pm. I fall asleep on the couch at about 5pm then get woken up by her hitting me in the arm, I wake but still half asleep to hear her saying
Her: "you didn't give my dad a lift home".
Me: "I know I didn't, he said he was walking over".
Her: "he's been running about all over the place this morning, you could have asked him if he wanted a lift"
Me: "but he came in and the first thing he said was, I'm going to walk over home, sometimes people like to use their legs and walk places you know?"
Her: "Oh FFS"

So she rings her Dad up. "Alan didn't give you a lift home!" Him: "yes, I know, it's been noted"

What the fk is going on here? am I in the wrong for presuming that when he said "I'm going to walk" he is actually going to use his limbs the way they are designed?

Another thing that pissed me off was her reaction of "he was running around all morning" Does this sound to you as if he had been running around after me all morning? it did to me. however, the facts are, he had been to work (has his own business) and had been to halfords to get a rear view mirror for the car her ex-husband is going to use until the end of the month.

Should I feel guilty/bad? Am I wrong?

Apparently I should feel guilty for making him walk in the cold, it was about 10 degrees with a slight breeze.

Oh dear. You should feel terrible.

Your actions are now noted down in a little note pad somewhere. I would personally try and find this pad and burn it. Then there will be no proof of what you have done and you can rest easily!

Always. Even when you're right, you're wrong.

Something she has clearly inherited from her Father.

I know, what does it mean exactly? "I'm not going to do you any favours then" confused Well fk you then! Why not just ask for a lift if you want a lift? not "I'm going to walk" hint hint that means are you going to offer a lift? Well, no I'm not, you can walk.

I'm not sure if I'm missing something here like multiple personality disorder. She was there, she also let him walk home in these artic condtitions. Slight manners fail in not asking "are you sure you wouldnt like a lift?" but she is just as guilty. I cant quite understand how it took her 4 hrs to have a go at you for this crime that she was also guilty of. If she felt so strongly she could have driven him.

Mean what you say.

Say what you mean.

If you are a bloke and you don't stick to these rules? Well. It's a problem.

Perhaps it's a regional thing but 'over' seems to be unnecessary.

It would have been polite to offer, but versus walking half-a-mile it's hardly worth it.

If he'd wanted a lift, he should have asked for one. Dozy sod.

Agreed - probably was thinking OP would offer him one when he said he's off.

Can't win really...

Yeah an dhow he was mistaken. If my Dad came over (he live about 20 miles away) and said I'm going to walk back home, I'd probably say, "you sure?" but thats it, he would say yes, then off he would go, I'm used to people actually walking places. So if someone says they are going to walk I presume they mean they are going to walk, not meaning, can I have a lift?
