Most of us have two eyes yet we can only focus them on one thing at a time. Our brain combines the image from each eye into just one image, so whilst we can 'see' many things at one, we can only really study in detail one thing at a time.

The fish. The ones that have eyes on opposite sides of their head. Their eyes' fields of vision cannot overlap and so their brain must be processing two completely separate images. So can fish focus and study two separate things at the same time?

If so, they would make the world's best jugglers.

Dunno.

I can't understand why, if Hyman Roth is such a fecking bigshot, he lives in a bungalow.

Are the stars pinholes in the curtain of night?

We aren't ever going to be fish. So we're never quite going to know...

Chameleons are like this. They move their eyes individually so can see two different images.

By applying deductive reasoning we can determine that, since fish are NOT the world's best jugglers, they must NOT be able to focus and study two separate things at the same time.

Probably they go - LOOK LEFT - LOOK RIGHT - LOOK LEFT - LOOK RIGHT.

Etc etc.

I expect it makes them quite dizzy, and that's why they swim in circles a lot, and are frequently sick.

Hence the expression "sea sick".

Don't think I've ever seen a fish vomit. Must be quite a sight. yes

Imagine a shark with a hangover. Nasty.

Horrible.

Smells like a mixture of sick and fanny.

Whales are the worst, naturally, especially the ones who eat plankton, which are essentially "spunks of the sea".

The dirty, dirty welsh bastids.

Because Stannah Stairlifts weren't invented at that point in time. Obviously.

Of course.

They should have made that clear in the film.

Michael should have been taking the piss out of him for living in a bungalow, and then Hyman should have explained about the non-invention of stairlifts.

Spielberg isn't the brilliant director many people would have you believe.

It's all in the 'Deleted Scenes' section of the extended DVD special release. With commentary.

Maybe that's why sharks always seem so annoyed.

Binocular vision is not even universal in mammals - it's typical of carnivores and other animals which need to judge distance accurately (monkeys, for example), while herbivores tend to sacrifice some degree of binocular vision for a wider field of view in order to spot predators creeping up on them.

You get the same effect in fish - those which need to accurately judge distance to prey have better binocular vision while those which most need to be hard to sneak up on have a wider field of view.

Trout, for example:
