Seems wrong to me that the election debate this evening is only live on Sky.

I thought this would fall under the 'crown jewels' rules of needing to be on free to view TV.

What percentage of the population have sky now?

Because they've done one on ITV, one on Sky and one on BBC.

smile

ETA:

Its on Sky3 which is on Freeview which most people have now too.

It's on Sky News, which is on Freeview and Freesat, so almost everyone will be able to watch (if they want to).

It was given to ITV 1, BBC 1 and Sky news, I presume to make it fair, and i`d also assume its because they are the three biggest broadcasters in the UK??

Most people have virgin, or sky, or freeview of some sort, and SKY news is shown on all of them.

Unless you just have the 5 analogue channels you should get it

I'm slightly surprised it's on a commercial station at all, but yes, I've heard on it's on a sky freeview channel too.

So you'd rather they only be shown on that unbiased voice of the nation, the BBC?? smile

I think because certain people will watch certain channels.. Same as doing a vote across 'The Sun' readers, with 'The Mail' and something else.

If you don't have freeview / Sky etc you can always watch it live on the Sky News website anyway.

Ahh yes (over 90% apparently). I don't see why the 10% "shouldn't" have the internet though so got a bit confused smile

It's happening around the corner from one of my bars, at the Arnolfini in Bristol.

Seeing the disruption that it has caused since Tuesday (blocked roads, police coming into bar and questioning staff and warning them to report suspicious people) our potential 'leaders' are feeling threatened. Since midday yesterday there has been 4 helicopters hovering above the floating harbour, the water is full of divers, armed police standing guard on the streets, they are obviously anticipating disruption from the anti-war brigade seeing as that is on the agenda for this evening's debate.

Would be exciting if it hadn't been for all the pomp and circumstance in the run up.

Now, where's that 'DOWN WITH WINKY' banner??
