How well does this work in other languages? Do the Japanese or the Chinese have predictive symbols? Is there such a thing as predictive sanskrit?

I can understand that there's technology out there for the romantic and other european languages, but how does this work for the others?

having bought a phone off ebay that came from hong kong, yes they do have predictive text!

Vietnam does not, because each word has at least 5 different meanings, therefore impossible to desypher a sentence.
