The Mrs. cat has caught itself a little house mouse. Instead of dispatching of it quickly, with the prowess of a finely tuned tool of evolution it has instead chose the sadistic route. Resulting in a Scalped mouse, running ambleing around the kitchen, struggling to keep its balance and generally looking like a poor little sod. With the cat randomly running upto it, hitting it with his paws and then sitting back and watching the resulting panic feeling proud of himself.

Sadistic little fker.

So, taking pity on it i've captured the little thing and stuck it in a spare snake tank safe from the prying claws of Capt. Awesome. (Here-on in renamed to Capt. Asshole)

It's obviously in alot of pain and scared. I don't quite fancy the idea of giving it back to the cat for the cat to torture it for a few more hours. But i don't like the idea of letting it die a slow, painful death either.

(...and feeding it to one of the snakes isn't an option, god knowns how many diseases it could carry.)

It won't know what hit it...

Mostly because mice lack the capability of cognitive thought

just put it into an old sock, tie the end and shove it under the car wheel, drive over it and problem solved, the sledgehammer approach runs the risk of getting splattered in mouse goo

Two ways:

1) Blunt heavy object top of the head and hit HARD (don't fanny about tapping it)
2) Place a biro on the back of the neck to pin the head down and pull the body sharply to separate the spinal cord from the brain.

Personally, unless you've been shown how to do the 2nd technique, I'd stick with the extreme blunt trauma!

Just lay it on its back and gently hold a pillow over its face until it stops twitching.

Apart from that, BANG IT IN THE BLENDER!!!

No no no no! All these suggestions are nowhere near manly enough. DOn some warpaint, give it 10 minutes headstart then go after it with the most unneccesarily powerful chainsaw you can find.

This idea is appealing, However i'm lacking in the "Owning a chainsaw" department

Sounds like head-splat is going to be the only option. If i go for the biro jobbie, Do i have to don a tie around my head Rambo-style beforehand?

Also, should i expect there to be much mouse-goo? I don't fancy cleaning it up inside the house and the neighbours kids are playing outside.

I thought you were going to say hold a pillow over its head and shoot it through the pillow to muffle the gunshot… a bit much, surely?!

Dip it in lighter fluid – the tail makes a good wick.

Don't mess up the hit. My dog accidentally skinned a mouse a few years ago and all i had was a brick but the poor thing was on grass. Took several hits and to this day i still feel bad about doing it.

I had this with the kids pet mouse which had an attack one evening. It had been ill with some great lump the vet said was inoperable but which kept on reducing and swelling up. It was twiching and shaking in its cage one Saturday night, obviously suffering.

I placed it carefully in a large matchbox, placed the flat on the ground and brought the flat of a garden spade down with all the force I could muster.

The match box tray shot out sideways at great speed and the mouse temporarily escaped meeting his mousie maker.

For about 15 seconds.

Parents deal with this on a regular basis, as they have 3 cats and live next to a big field. There is a large garden spade that rests outside the door. It handily combines the ability to weild a blunt, sudden death and scoop the now two-dimensional remains into the bin / field / neighbour's garden.

It's the cat's department.

Let nature take its course.

I have found this to be quite effective on an injured mouse.

Put mouse in crinkly type plastic (ie thin) carrier bag trying to get it at the furthest point from your hand

Raise back above head and swing to collide at great speed with kitchen worktop.

Mouse should suffer very little as impact will have massive effect.

Not nice but who wants to kill mice anyway.
