I get home tired after my shift last night to find the flat full of smoke 2 fire alarms going off and a pizza in the oven on fire...

The missis is in bed asleep.....

Bascially she has not been very well this week, but made it in wed, thirs, fri. On friday she got some very positive results back from work so wanted to go out for a celebratory drink. I phone her from work to hear she was already in the pub with her mate and i offered her this advice. (its about 1700hrs)

" well done babe with the results, but make sure you only have the one as you have been really poorly this week and you need to get the car home" yes yes she says and i hang up.

2 hours later after a text message i sent reitterating how it probably does not look good having 2 days off then beering it up on friday, and that she is not really better/healthy so should be taking it easy at home i call her again....

Still in the pub, now quite drunk and deciding to get a taxi home. Great i'm thinking.... I'll be getting your car then if its not ticketed in the morning!

at 2145hrs she texts me some rubbish telling me she is home, almost unintelligable texting i might add so adds to the clearly hammered status....

at 00:00hrs i pull up outside to see what looks like smoke coming out of a semi opened window in our flat. I leg it up the 3 flights of stairs with my bags, crash into the flat to find the flaming pepperoni pizza being cooked on 250c using the grill, in a closed oven... the flat is full of smoke from about 3ft up and 2 fire alarms (good un's as well!) going spastic. I wake the missis up, check she is alright and sort out the mayhem. Whilst i am opening the windows she fecks of back to bed feeling terrible; mumbeling some excuse about she forgot she was cooking it....

Now this morning i left for work after 6 hours sleep (this is day 5 of 13 hour shifts and i satyed up having a pint of wine on election night! *see other thread) not saying a word. But i am pissed off. Properly pissed off. I would never do something like this, no matter how pissed (and i don't really get that pissed very often at all) i was. What with the repeated warnings about not staying out and getting hammered, it looking bad from works point of view, shes not been well, looking after her best interests etc etc and she nearly burns the fecking flat down. Whats more worrying is she did not hear the fire alarms.....

I'm actually quite upset by this, its just i can't believe she actually feck'd up this badly...

N.b She has since sent a message saying sorry and i was right about my advice as she feels 10x worse now, and her cold has come back with avengence.... but i'm still not happy....

It could have been worse. It could have been you who did it - because that little ditty would have been stored in the female memory for use in any future argument.

Plus, my mum once saved me a bit of Pizza, and because she was nice, she put it in the oven to warm up for me before I got home. Shame she put it in the oven in the cardboard box. The Gas Oven. Stone cold sober.

What are you some sort of saint???? I would be going spastic at her. Imagine if the tables were turned, you would never hear the end of it.

Ok she fked up. fortunatly you where there so no real damage has been caused.

She will have to deal with the not well stuff and then on piss with work herself.

However this does mean that you have 'one in the bag'. This means that you can go out get completely wasted, take a dump on her pillow before falling asleep and she cannot say anything. biggrin

She clearly has a taste for the spicy meaty sausage when drunk - she's a keeper.

Unless, of course, he's already done this and she is merely returning fire hehe

To be fair chap, its not really that massive a deal. No point getting all het up about it. Have a chat, explain it was a bit daft, and move on.

How old is she?

Is it a job with any responsibility?

Doesn't sound like the end of the world, but I would be a bit annoyed and the negligence, what would she have done if you weren't there to wipe her arse...

Unless it happens often just put it down as a mistake, if you go easy on her maybe when you inevitably piss her off, she will be inclined to hold back on the anger. (it could happen)

My Mrs has the memory of a goldfish, kitchen fires were a regular feature in our house, kept me on my toes. When we had the new kitchen fitted I bought all computerised appliances so its almost impossible now to end up with a proper fire as they shut down once they have finished the program or in the case of the hob if it gets too hot it automatically reduces power to a low level.

So now instead of hob fires we just get things welded to pans as they have dried out. Bit safer that way!

Say your piece and let go of it.

She got some good news and got battered, we've all done it, indeed I've lost count of the times I've stood in the street with my lad out and my pants on my head.

Agreed. If it's the worse thing she ever does, then it's not bad is it.
I think most of us on here have done worse, and I'm sure if the OP thinks hard enough he probably has done too.

Of course, if it becomes a habit and she does this sort of stuff all the time, then she is a liability plain and simple, and appropriate action should be taken.
