What are these geometric bits of land north of Banbury?
Look a bit like cold war bases...
Does anyone know?

It's DMC Kineton according to the sign just down the road.

Google throws up this: Army School of Ammunition (ASoA) based at DMC Kineton

I would imagine they are ammo stores.

Weapons storage?

Go to street view on the access road for the lower group. Sign says 'MOD (Army Department) No admission without permission'

Or

Go to other end http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&a... to see sign saying 'DM Kineton' and mentions explosives act

(Cant work out how to get a pictures of it!)

ETA: wasn't it the place where Top Gear tried out the communist built cars a couple of years ago?

I did a bit of googling about this a while ago, but cant find the site when I just looked.

Apparently its nuclear storage etc. there was a lot of talks about most of it being underground with railways and roads all underground. I'm not sure how reliable the source was I just remember reading about it.

My cousin is here at the moment. I think it's a weapons training and usage facility, but I'm not completely sure.

Speaking of ammo dumps on google earth, here is the site of the world largest (supposedly) non-nuclear explosion.

I'm pretty sure it still is. There is a hell of a lot of ammo stored under there, I just hope that the engineers that designed it got all their calcs right seeing as it's not all that far from me. On the plus side though if it does go up maybe it'll knock down some of Banbury as well.
