Mustard coloured trousers - how posh do you need to be?
Discussion
A serious (if odd) thought from me this morning
I see various chaps walking around in their quilted Barbour jackets with mustard trousers, some get away with it too in an 'old money' or 'country gent' style. I'll admit that I think it looks just right when in a classic Range Rover or old Bentley.
Anyway, I wouldn't suit the look at all and many more wouldn't either. Is this type of attire strictly for the in-bred, old money types or is it all a fake look to give the impression of owning a country estate?
What's the criteria for owning (and getting away with) such clothing?

I have no chin - very easy to get away with.
As someone else said, all comes down to the accesories and how worn.
Suede chukka boots, well worn button down shirt, barbour quilted jacket. Happy days.
Box fresh, top to toe Hackett. No, look like some Essex chancer.
Red jeans have the same rules.

I haven't bought any. I've wanted some for years but I don't quite pull them off.
.
Stains are nicely disgused if you do though..
Anyway, about the ratio of "Posh" [/SIC] to troos.
Posh people do not refer to themseleves as posh - this is a term for the new money or commoners. In my experience, people I know who wear mustard trousers 'just do', they would also not give a second thought to reach into the closet for a silky paisley cravat or red socks and brown brogues along with the mustard slacks. They are usually touched by a hint of madness too. Which I find quite endearing.
