Reasoning that everyone needs to promote themselves, a business, a record or even just get some info out there on a burning issue they might have like 'how do we get rid of the crazy nannying laws that Blair/Brown brought in'. I tried to find a website that would give a comprehensive list, couldn't find one so started one, any ideas..?

1. Create a fun event that might also become a useful promo tool or even a business: Gumball, turning hoons into cash. The lands end to John O Groats on a spacehopper. Cross The Channel on a flotilla of garbage to bring awareness to an eco issue.
2. Put bits of paper (leaflets, business cards, stickers) in unusual places, onto car windscreens whilst cars are at traffic lights or parked, sponsor a Romanian windscreen washer so they wear your t-shirt
3. Project your message onto a building, maybe behind where some journo is reporting to the News at 10
4. Acid clean your message onto pavements, somewhere busy, you're doing a public duty albeit only on the clean bit where your logo is
5. Write great copy on your blog or someone else's, this might then get picked up by the news media, not sure this ever works though, maybe journos nick ideas from the PH forum, I'm sure they do
6. TV - get on 'The One Show', they always need interesting stuff so speak to one of their spotty researchers
7. Get threatened by Stelios's legal team and then into the press for creating Easy XXX, remember the EasyCurry story?
8. Give stuff away, find something no one wants, a big stock of 'lavender eye masks' you can get for next to nothing, print with your logo or semi revolutionary message and get a weekly magazine to stick them on the cover.

I'd suggest if you get any interesting marketing ideas, keep them to yourself otherwise you're only arming your competitors.

This is why I'm not contributing any ideas to this thread, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Have you recently lost your job at a marketing company but have got no idea why?

Burn your logo onto the moon with a huge laser?
Tattoo your logo onto you kids, or pets, or the elephant at the zoo, that will get your name in the papers
walk up to someone famous and punch them, covering yourself in your logo first.

Dig up Jade Goody and commit an act of necrophilia whilst wearing a fluorescent pink mankini emblazoned with your logo.
Guaranteed exposure.

Love these suggestions, how about:

Steal a car and get chased by the police helicopter when you somehow know that that particular force supplies fottage to 'Police, Camera, Action'. Drive into a field of corn (they often do) and spell out the name 'Acme Plumbing Ltd' via the route you take through the field, when you finally come out a jail you'll be a millionaire!

I think you should forget 'marketing' as a career choice and perhaps enter the world of kiddie entertainer - you sound so craaaaazeeeee and whacky.

I once cycled 12 miles with a swollen nutsack. Is this comparable?

Tattoo your logo on your swollen nutsack after doing the spacehopper tour.

The public have been around as long as you, so they are wise to all the nu-school marketing carp. There is a new Hi-Tec 'walking on water' viral video on Youtube that's cringeworthy.

Stick to pictures of scantily clads, only thing that works for me. Simples.

the acid cleaning graffiti thing has already been done as 'art' could work for marketing but would need to be a cleaning related product/service to have proper impact surely
